FADE IN:
OPENING — THE LAST SHOW
INT. RETIREMENT HOME — CASINO NIGHT
Folding tables dressed as a casino floor. Crepe paper, plastic chips, a bored nurse. MARGOT, 70s, immaculate, deals blackjack like it's Monte Carlo.
She fans the deck one-handed, counting the room. On the TV: the Meridian's new vault.
MARGOT
(without looking up)
House wins again, Harold. It always does.
HAROLD, 80s, pushes his chips across anyway. The regulars laugh. Margot rakes the pot without ceremony.
DESMOND
(arriving, coat still on)
They're tearing the Meridian's vault out in March. Some museum bought the door.
On the TV, the vault door fills the frame. Margot doesn't look up. She doesn't need to.
